In 2027, the MasZen Foundation plans to travel to Japan to learn from a culture that places deep value on harmony, respect, and emotional balance in education.  Our work will be grounded in listening, observing, and learning, guided by respect for Japan’s private culture and the importance of trust.

Our goal is not to replicate Japan’s school system, but to thoughtfully learn from it. Through meetings with educators, approved conversations with students, and quiet observation of school environments, we hope to better understand how emotional safety is woven into daily school life.

Schools around the world are searching for ways to better support students’ emotional well-being. Japan’s approach—often subtle, collective, and deeply relationship-based—offers perspectives that can enrich and deepen this important work.

With your support, we will:

• Meet with educators and school leaders to learn how emotional safety is supported through structure, routine, and relationships.
   
• Listen to student voices where appropriate and permitted, always prioritizing consent, privacy, and cultural respect.
   
• Observe school environments and daily practices, recognizing that some of the most meaningful lessons are found in what is quietly practiced rather than formally taught.
   
• Work alongside a professional translator to ensure understanding that is accurate, respectful, and culturally sensitive.
   
• Bring home insights that can be thoughtfully adapted to support emotionally healthy schools in our own communities.
   

Funds raised will support travel, translation, research preparation, and relationship-building with educators in Japan. Each contribution helps make this learning possible and supports MasZen’s mission to nurture emotionally safe, connected school environments.

We are currently in the final stages of completing our 501(c)(3) nonprofit registration. Once approved, all donations will be tax-deductible.
